POCHÉ

A studio named for the ink.

Poché is an interior architecture studio in Paris and Copenhagen, founded in 2017. We design houses, hotels and rooms for work as sequences of light and material.

A drafting table with floor plans, oak samples and limestone offcuts in afternoon light.

Poché, from the French pocher.

On an architectural plan, poché is the blackened mass of the walls: the solid matter drawn in ink so the rooms can read as light. It is the part of the drawing nobody notices and everything depends on. We took it as a name and as a standard.

What we hold to.

Walk before you draw.

Every plan is tested as a route first, a picture second.

Light is the first material.

Openings are designed before finishes, always.

Fewer things, better placed.

A room should survive the removal of its decoration.

The studio.

We are a partnership of eight, led by Mara Lindqvist and Julien Sarr. We take on a small number of commissions each year and stay with them from first sketch to last fitting.
